Editorial standards

These rules apply to staff pieces and to guest posts. If we get something wrong, tell the desk.

Audience and voice

We write for people in Singapore first, in British and Singapore English. Prices are in Singapore dollars. We do not pretend a tourist brochure is a city guide.

Facts and updates

Opening hours, stall names and MRT exits change. We date every guide and revise when a reader flags a break. We do not invent queues or awards. Where a stall is named, it is as an example of a type, not a paid endorsement, unless the page says otherwise.

Sponsored work

Paid articles and paid links are disclosed. Outbound paid or guest-post links carry rel="sponsored". We will not insert a paid link into a reported sentence as if it were a neutral tip. See the labelled partner example on write for us.

Images

We use Creative Commons or public-domain photographs, host them ourselves, and credit the author and licence on the page and on the image credits page.

Independence

A hawker mention is not a review score. We do not accept payment for a stall to appear in a reported guide. Advertising is a separate conversation, handled as sponsored inventory.
